Update on In-Custody Death – Las Colinas Detention Facility
July 20, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on July 13, 2022, 25-year-old Vianna Granillo, who was recently released from Sheriff's Department custody, died at a local hospital. We extend our sympathies to the Granillo family and those affected by her death. A Sheriff's Family Liaison Officer was assigned to support the family as they dealt with the loss of a loved one.
Today, we were informed the Medical Examiner's Office has completed an autopsy of Miss Granillo. It was determined the cause of death was septic shock; the manner of death was natural.

As is the protocol for all in-custody deaths, the Sheriff's Homicide Unit will conduct a thorough investigation.
