July 27, 2023 -  AZUSA – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials announced an incarcerated person who walked away from Julius Klein Conservation Camp in Los Angeles County on July 20, 2023, has been apprehended.  

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on July 25, the Fresno Police Department took 41-year-old Evan Chezick into custody in Fresno. Chezick is a suspect in an alleged home invasion that took place earlier that day. Chezick is still in Fresno Police custody, pending their investigation.

Chezick was admitted to CDCR from Madera County on Sept. 20, 2022, to serve five years and four months for Possession/Own Firearm by Felon or Addict Second Striker and Resisting/Deterring Officer w/ Threat Violence Second Striker.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all incarcerated people who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
