July 28, 2023 - Alturas, CA - Modoc County Sheriff's Office officials report that at approximately 12:00 P.M., an officer from the Alturas Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Jarrett Michael Lancaster of Albums for operating a motor vehicle without a license. Lancaster is currently on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for evading a peace officer conviction in June of 2021 out of Modoc County. When the officer attempted to make the traffic enforcement stop, Lancaster, age 22, fled leading the officer and the Modoc County Sheriff on a pursuit of speeds in excess of 100 mph. The pursuit was ultimately terminated when the pursuing officer lost sight of the vehicle.
Later that same afternoon, a Modoc County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the same vehicle on Hwy 299 traveling at a high rate of speed. When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, Lancaster fled from the deputy leading him on a pursuit in excess of 100 mph. Additional deputies joined in the pursuit which lasted over an hour through the City of Alturas, rural areas of Modoc County, into the Modoc National Forest. During the pursuit Lancaster attempted to strike a Modoc County Sheriff patrol vehicle with his vehicle. The pursuit came to an end when the deputy used a pursuit intervention technique, forcing the vehicle off the shoulder of the gravel road.
Both Lancaster and his passenger, Tiffany Lynn Breiner, 28, from Stockton California were treated at the scene and arrested. Lancaster was booked into the Modoc County Jail, facing charges of felony evading, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, violation of PRCS, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Breiner was booked into the Modoc County Jail for accessory after the fact. Both are expected to be arranged on their charges on Thursday.
Lancaster was arrested on May 27, 2023, on a warrant for a PRCS violation and was released from custody on July 10, 2023. This is Lancaster's third arrest since January, twice on warrants for failing to comply with his PRCS terms and conditions.
