Summer Safety Public Announcement‼️
August 7, 2023 - Placer County Sheriff's Office officials announce that August is National Adventures Month, and we know the summer season is prime time for families to come to Placer County and engage in outdoor recreation! Placer County’s waterways and trails, specifically, draw visitors from across the country, and the world. Unfortunately, that means Placer County Sheriff’s deputies are often called out for search and rescue missions each year involving hikers, river swimmers, and off-roaders.
- Before heading out, check weather conditions and trail updates.
- Always let someone know your plans and estimated return time.
- Carry essential supplies including water, maps, and first-aid kits.
- Educate yourself about the area's rules and potential hazards.
- Never venture alone and stay on marked trails to minimize risks.
- We cannot stress it enough — PLEASE DO NOT underestimate the power of river currents.
