In-Custody Death 

August 29, 2023 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Sunday, August 27, 2023, deputies from the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility were alerted to an unresponsive male inmate in a housing unit. Deputies and jail medical personnel immediately administered life-saving measures. Paramedics responded and assumed life-saving measures. However, he was ultimately pronounced deceased.

Investigators from the Corrections Central Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate has been identified as 31-year-old Tavae Stalks Walker, of Jurupa Valley. There are no signs of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Justin Williams at (951) 922-7152.
