Arson Arrest in Spring Valley 

August 30, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Tuesday, August 29 just before 6:00 a.m., deputies from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station responded to reports of multiple spot fires along Bancroft Drive and Troy Street. Fires were set to trash, wood pallets and a trash dumpster.

Firefighters and several witnesses arrived and put out the small fires. No structures were burned or threatened. No evacuations were needed.  

Deputies spotted a man later identified as Marcus Fox (05/06/1990) near one of the fires and detained him. Detectives from the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson Unit were contacted to investigate the origin and cause of the fires. They determined the cause to be arson and developed probable cause to arrest Fox.  

He was arrested on four counts of 451 (d) PC, Arson to Property. Fox was booked into custody at the San Diego Central Jail.
