September 5, 2023 - Lakewood Sheriff's Station officials report that deputies continued to work hard during the Holiday weekend to keep the community safe.

On Saturday Lakewood deputies responded to the 11600 block of 206th St., regarding a group of suspicious males possibly armed with a firearm. Deputies responded and detained the males. During the investigation deputies recovered three loaded firearms. 2 adults and two juveniles (all Lakewood residents) were arrested for numerous felony weapons violations. The two juveniles were transported to juvenile hall.

On Saturday, a Paramount deputy located a stolen Toyota in the area of Alondra Blvd. and Indiana Ave. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested two adults (Long Beach residents) for grand theft auto.

On Sunday, a Lakewood Deputy located a stolen Chevy Tahoe in the area of Ashworth St. and Clark Ave. The driver of the vehicle quickly parked and ran away from the deputy to avoid apprehension. The deputy contained the area and requested additional resources. LASD K9 responded to assist with the search. The suspect (Long Beach resident) was eventually located hiding in a backyard of a residence on Rose St. He was booked at Lakewood Station after receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

On Sunday, a Paramount Deputy located a stolen Hyundai in the area of Downey Avenue and Somerset Blvd. Deputies attempted to stop the driver, but he failed to yield and led deputies in a quick vehicle pursuit. The driver then pulled over and ran from the deputies. A containment was established and, with the assistance of LASD K9, the suspect (Compton resident) was found hiding in a nearby school.

Lakewood Station wants to remind everyone that our deputies always work hard to keep our communities safe and always use all resources available to apprehend criminals that prey on our community. We would like to thank our elite LASD K9 Unit for their assistance in apprehending two felony suspects.
