September 24, 2023 - San Diego Police Department officials report that one of the motor officers had a pursuit with an electric motorcycle that closely resembles an e-bike.

Our officer was led on a high-speed chase with an individual navigating one of these motorcycles. The rider, moving at speeds exceeding 50 mph, had several close calls, narrowly avoiding collisions with other vehicles. The pursuit culminated in the rider crashing into a pickup truck. Miraculously, no injuries were reported.

These aren't your average e-bikes. They actually aren’t e-bikes at all. The California Vehicle Code categorizes them as electric motorcycles designed predominantly for off-road ventures.
