Homicide Investigation in Vista 

October 3, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at approximately 11:35 p.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff's Station responded to a radio call of a fight near the intersection of North Santa Fe Avenue and East California Avenue in Vista. 

Upon arrival in the 200 block of East California Avenue, deputies located an 18-year-old male on the ground suffering from apparent trauma to his upper body. Life saving measures were immediately initiated by deputies until paramedics and fire department personnel arrived on scene. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. 

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation. The identity of the victim is known but being withheld at this time. Based on information gathered so far, this appears to be an isolated incident. Currently, there is no suspect information. The motivation and circumstances are still under investigation.
