Homicide Update
October 4, 2023 - Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that the victim in this case was identified as 65-year-old Steven Fineran, and the female suspect was identified as the victim’s girlfriend, 67-year-old Dani Runyan, both residents of Perris. Runyan was arrested for murder and booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center.

On Friday, September 29, 2023, at 6:09 p.m., deputies assigned to the Perris Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 18000 block of Alexander Street, in an unincorporated area of Perris known as Mead Valley. Upon arrival, deputies found a male inside the residence with a gunshot wound. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputies secured the area and station investigators responded to begin the investigation. The Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending the notification to the next of kin. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are currently available.
