Camarillo Stolen Trailer Arrest
October 9, 2023 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office on October 4, 2023, Jose Morales-Muniz, a resident of Sylmar, CA, was arrested for stealing a heavy-duty utility dump trailer from a Camarillo business.
On August 11, 2023, a Camarillo business owner reported the theft of his utility dump trailer from the 400 Block of Constitution Avenue. A deputy assigned to the Camarillo Police Station responded for the initial report. Detectives with the Camarillo Investigations Bureau were assigned this investigation for follow-up.
Detectives canvassed the surrounding businesses for video surveillance. Video surveillance was located which depicted the suspect vehicle driving towards the business on August 11, 2023, during the early morning hours. Minutes later, the suspect vehicle was depicted fleeing the scene with the attached stolen trailer.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified Jose Morales-Muniz as a suspect. Detectives also located evidence connecting Morales-Muniz to the suspect vehicle depicted in the video surveillance.
On October 4, 2023, detectives located Morales-Muniz driving in the city of Sylmar. Morales-Muniz was stopped and arrested for VC 10851(a)- Unlawful Taking of a Vehicle. At the conclusion of the arrest, detectives located the stolen trailer parked on the street in front of Morales-Muniz’ residence.
Morales-Muniz was booked at the Main Jail and his bail was set at $40,000.
