Update: Homicide in Borrego Springs
November 21, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on November 18, 2023, a deputy responded to the 2800 block of 
Borrego Springs Rd. in Borrego Springs, to check the welfare of one of the residents. A family member requested a check on her mother because of the living conditions. The deputy searched the home and found what appeared to be the deceased mother. The victim has positively been identified as 63-year-old Leona Guevara.
The circumstances of the crime are still under investigation.
