Update: Attempted Murder in Jamul 

January 22, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on January 19, 2024, at about 1:33 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to the 14400 block of Hillside Estates Drive in Jamul, to assist the Fire Department. The Fire Department requested the deputies respond because the female victim, 77-year-old Vicki Bodle, they were treating showed signs of a physical assault. Vicki Bodle was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The Medical Examiner's preliminary autopsy result for the cause of death is trauma to the head and neck. Sheriff's Homicide detectives have updated the charge against Travis Bodle to 187(a) PC – Murder.

At this stage of the investigation, the motivation and circumstances of the crime are still under investigation.
