Burglary Search Warrant Service and Suspect Arrested

February 3, 2024 - Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Sunday, January 28, 2024, about 11:00 p.m., a riverside county sheriff logoburglary occurred at a cemetery in the 22000 block of Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, where two suspects broke into a maintenance building, stealing over $20,000.00 worth of equipment. The Riverside Sheriff's Perris Station’s Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) began working on this burglary and obtained information about the vehicles involved. During the investigation, deputies identified one of the suspects as Kevin Mateas – a 28-year-old resident of Mead Valley.

On Friday, February 2, 2024, about 12:30 p.m., Perris RBST, along with the Perris City Special Enforcement Team and Perris Gang Task Force, served a search warrant at a residence in the 18000 Block of Seaton Avenue in Mead Valley. Mateas was taken into custody without incident, and evidence of the crime was collected. Mateas was later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for burglary, felony vandalism, and committing a felony while out on bail. The Perris RBST is still working to identify the second suspect involved. This investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are available at this time.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call RBST Deputy Ramirez at Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099 or the Perris Station at (951) 210-1000.
