April 30, 2024 - Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report on Friday, April 19, 2024, at approximately 3:20 PM, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office West County Special Enforcement Unit (WC-SEU) detectives arrested Sean Briseno for felony firearm and ammunition violations at the Ventura County Superior Court in the city of Ventura. On April 23, 2024, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felony firearm, ammunition, and narcotics charges against Briseno in the Ventura County Superior Court.

In April 2024, WC-SEU detectives conducted a firearm investigation involving Sean Briseno, who is a convicted felon and prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition.

On April 18 and 19, 2024, detectives obtained signed search warrants for Briseno, his vehicles, and residences associated to him in the 800 block of Pleasant Valley Road and 100 block of Seaview Street, both in Port Hueneme.

On April 19, 2024, at approximately 3:20 PM, Sheriff’s Office Court Services Bureau deputies detained Briseno pursuant to the search warrants at the Ventura County Court Superior Court, located at 800 S. Victoria Avenue in Ventura. Briseno was at court for another pending criminal matter. WC-SEU detectives then searched a vehicle associated to Briseno in the courthouse parking lot. Detectives located a loaded, 40 caliber, Glock semi-automatic “ghost gun” inside the vehicle.

Detectives then served the search warrants at the residences in Port Hueneme. Detectives determined Briseno was in possession of additional firearms; including another “ghost gun”, various types of ammunition, and suspected methamphetamine. Briseno was arrested and booked for various firearm, ammunition, and narcotics violations.

On April 23, 2024, the case against Briseno was presented to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, who subsequently filed multiple felony counts of PC 29800(a)(1) – Felon with a Firearm, felony HS 11370.1 – Possession of a Controlled Substance with a Firearm, felony PC 25400(a)(1) – Carrying a Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle, felony PC 25850(c)(6) – Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and felony PC 30305(a)(1) – Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition charges against Briseno in the Ventura County Superior Court. Briseno remains in-custody with an upcoming court date and $70,000 bail amount.

The firearm investigation regarding Briseno is on-going; if you have any information about the case, please contact Detective Austin Whittaker at 805-654-3509.
