February 29, 2024 - San Diego Police Department officials report that in the evening hours of February 26, 2024, an unknown person set fire to three vehicles, a security gate access pad, a sensor, and the front entry door to the San Diego Fox 5 Studio located at 7100 Engineer Road.  A portion of the arson was captured by building surveillance cameras and aired to the public.  The San Diego Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) responded to the scene to investigate the arsons.

On February 28, 2024, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) responded to an unrelated radio call in the 7300 block of Clairemont Mesa Blvd. An SDPD detective assigned to MAST was in the area searching for the arson suspect when the call for service was made.  Based on information provided in the radio call, the detective attempted to locate the subject and he was subsequently detained.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the subject who was involved with this call was the same suspect in the above-listed arsons at the Fox 5 Studio.  The suspect is identified as 41-year-old Dimitrius Cannon.  He was arrested for multiple counts of arson.  Evidence was recovered from Cannon linking him to the arsons.
