Hit the Ground Running
March 8, 2024 - San Bernardino Police Department officials report that recently, officers were dispatched to the area of 9th and 'G' Streets referencing a street takeover, in which there were reports of 20 vehicles driving recklessly in the middle of the intersection. When officers arrived, they observed a vehicle leaving the area that was possibly involved. Officers conducted a traffic stop and learned the driver did not have a driver's license. As the officers had the occupants exit from the vehicle, one subject fled on foot, which led to a foot pursuit. During the foot pursuit, the subject fell to the ground and dropped a firearm. He was eventually taken into custody, and the handgun was recovered. It was found to have been a 40 caliber Glock with a high-capacity magazine containing 13 bullets. The evading subject was arrested, and the driver was issued a citation. The vehicle was consequently towed.
