Firearm Violation Arrest

March 14, 2024 - Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on March 8, 2024, at approximately 4:00 P.M., Ventura County Sheriff’s Office West County Ventura County Sheriff logoSpecial Enforcement Unit (WC-SEU) detectives arrested Pedro Tello in the City of Camarillo for felony firearm violations.  On March 12, 2024, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felony firearm charges and a misdemeanor resisting arrest charge against Tello in the Ventura County Superior Court.

During the months of February and March 2024, WC-SEU detectives conducted a firearm investigation involving Pedro Tello, who is associated to a business located in the 300 block of Camarillo Ranch Road in Camarillo and a residence in the 1400 block of Flora Lane in Oxnard. Tello is a convicted felon and prohibited from owning or possessing firearms and ammunition.

On March 8, 2024, detectives obtained a signed search warrant for Tello, his vehicles, and the residence in Oxnard.

On March 8, 2024, at approximately 4:00 P.M., detectives located Tello and attempted to detain him pursuant to the search warrant at a business located in the 300 block of Camarillo Ranch Road in Camarillo. Tello fled from detectives, hid inside the business for a few minutes, before being apprehended after a brief struggle.  Inside the business location where Tello hid, detectives located an unregistered semi-automatic handgun, which was loaded with ammunition. Detectives also determined Tello was in possession of narcotics smoking paraphernalia and a usable amount of a controlled substance. Tello was arrested for various firearm, ammunition, narcotics, and resisting violations.

Detectives then served the search warrant at the residence in Oxnard. Detectives determined that an adult female at the location had a firearm with ammunition stored in an unsecured manner.  The female was cited and released for a violation of California Penal Code 25100 – Criminal Storage of a Firearm.

On March 12, 2024, the case against Tello was presented to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, who subsequently filed felony PC 29800(a)(1) – Felon with a Firearm, felony PC – Carrying a Loaded Firearm, felony Health and Safety Code 11370.1 – Possession of a Controlled Substance with a Firearm, and misdemeanor PC 148(a)(1) – Resisting a Peace Officer charges against Tello in the Ventura County Superior Court. Tello remains in custody with an upcoming court date and $130,000 bail amount.
