Assault with a Deadly Weapon in San Marcos 

March 17, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff's Department officials report that detectives with the San Marcos Sheriff's Station want the public's help in finding the person responsible for shooting a man with a handgun.

It happened on Saturday, March 16, just after 12:30 a.m. near Questhaven and San Elijo Roads. Deputies responded to a call of a man who had been shot. The victim told deputies he was walking on a trail when he was approached by three individuals wearing dark hoodies. At some point, the victim was shot in the leg. The three individuals ran from the scene.

The victim requested help from nearby residents. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

Deputies later recovered a ghost gun near the crime scene. So far, no suspects have been identified.
