March 18, 2024 - Lakewood Sheriff's Station officials report that this past Thursday, a Lakewood Deputy conducted a patrol check of an area known for recent high crime activity, in the City of Bellflower. The deputy saw a male adult, whom he recognized as a someone who is on active parole. The deputy attempted to contact the male adult to conduct a parole compliance check, but the male adult ran from the deputy.  As the male adult ran, he was seen by the deputy carrying a firearm. The deputy requested assistance and the male adult was eventually located and detained. During the investigation and a parole compliance check, a loaded firearm was recovered along with multiple zip lock baggies containing suspected methamphetamine. The deputies also discovered that the firearm was reported stolen during a recent burglary.

The suspect was placed under arrest for several felony charges including convicted felon in possession of a loaded firearm in a public place and possession of narcotics with intent to sell/distribute.  The suspect remained in custody pending a court appearance and a parole hearing.

Lakewood deputies work hard to identify and target high crime areas to keep the community safe for everyone. Good job to this deputy for arresting this criminal and removing this illegally possessed firearm from the streets.
