March 18, 2024 - Lakewood Sheriff's Station officials report that a Paramount Deputy on patrol saw a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the vehicle was also lane straddling and made a sudden unsafe turn into a parking lot. The deputy conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. When the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver (a male adult), did not cooperate with the deputies' orders and instead requested that the deputy call his attorney (the driver's attorney). The driver also said he had a knife in his pocket. The driver eventually complied with the deputy's orders and was detained. During a pat down search, the driver had a loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun in his back pants pocket. During the investigation the deputies learned that the driver had a prior felony conviction.
The driver (Paramount Resident) was arrested for convicted felon being in possession of a loaded (unregistered) firearm, along with three additional firearm felony violations. He was booked at Lakewood Station jail.
Great job to this deputy for making a felony arrest and removing this illegally possessed firearm from our community.
