April 2, 2024 - Nevada City, CA – Nevada County Sheriff's Office officials report Todd German, 53 of Nevada City, and Donnie Thompson, 60 of Nevada City, have Nevada County Sheriff Office logobeen charged with burglary, conspiracy, petty theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, among other charges, stemming from a home burglary on March 26, 2024.

On the day in question, Nevada County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of possible trespassing at a private residence located in the 11,000 block of Newtown Road in Nevada City, CA. The homeowner was not present at the time but saw on live video surveillance two unidentified males.

Upon arrival, no individuals were located. However, a helpful neighbor captured pictures of a vehicle leaving the residence, a truck found to be registered to German. Deputies traveled to German’s residence and located him and Thompson in possession of stolen property, which was still in the truck bed. The stolen property included a dryer, solar panel, and surveillance camera. Inside the vehicle deputies recovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and shotgun shells.

“The victim’s home surveillance system and a neighbor’s quick thinking to take pictures aided our deputies in immediately tracking down two suspects,” said Lt. Rusty Greene.

German was arrested on site and booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on burglary and related charges. Thompson, who was initially arrested as well, did not meet medical clearances to be booked into jail and was thus transported to the hospital; his charges have been filed with the District Attorney’s Office. Both German and Thompson presently await prosecution.

In an unlikely turn of events, when deputies traveled back to the residence to return stolen property, they encountered two more trespassers, unrelated to the earlier incident. One of the trespassers was identified as Brandon Dall, 30 of Nevada City, who is on active probation with search and seizure terms. A search of his vehicle revealed heroin and drug paraphernalia, all of which was confiscated. Dall took full ownership of the items and was cited for possession and released. The second subject was not charged.
