April 17, 2024 - Grass Valley, CA – Nevada County Sheriff’s Office officials report Myles Francis Monigold, 27, of Wichita, Kansas, was arrested on April 15, 2024, following a road rage incident that was reported on Highway 49 near Crestview Drive in Grass Valley.

The first 911 call came into the Nevada County Regional Dispatch Center at 12:49 p.m. The caller indicated the driver of a silver Honda Civic cut off a black Tesla and someone in the Honda Civic aimed a firearm at the Telsa.

In a joint effort, deputies of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP - Grass Valley) immediately responded to the area. While in route, a second 911 call came in at 12:53 p.m. with similar information reported.

NCSO and CHP located the Honda Civic, now parked, in the 10,000 block of Alta Sierra Drive by 1:00 p.m. One occupant was located inside the passenger side of the vehicle, identified as Monigold, while the driver was located inside a neighboring business.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined Monigold was the person of interest who reportedly brandished a firearm at the Telsa. The suspected firearm utilized was a loaded black .357 Magnum Colt revolver (pictured), recovered in a gun case inside the vehicle. A second silver .38 Special Smith & Wesson Airweight revolver, also loaded, was recovered in the same gun case. Both firearms were booked as evidence into the Sheriff’s Property Unit.

Monigold was arrested onsite for brandishing one of the firearms in the road rage incident and booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. No one was in injured in this incident. The Sheriff’s Office thanks the public for immediately calling in this incident as it unfolded on the highway.
