Darnell Marshon Bray is charged with attempting to murder a Metro bus driver in the city of Los Angeles. 

April 27, 2024 – LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced on Friday that Darnell george gasconMarshon Bray is charged with attempting to murder a Metro bus driver on April 13 in the city of Los Angeles.

“This reprehensible attack on a Metro bus driver and the trauma endured by the bus’s passengers is an appalling act of violence that has no place in our community,” District Attorney Gascón said. “Metro workers and Angelenos should not have to live in fear as they engage in their work and daily commutes. I am grateful that the victim is recovering from this horrible attack, and my thoughts are with the passengers who had to witness this terrifying ordeal. Our office’s Bureau of Victim Services is available to assist with trauma-informed victim services for all affected by this crime.”

Darnell Marshon Bray (30) of the city of Hawthorne, is charged in case 24CMCF00797 with one count of attempted murder – willful, deliberate, and premeditated.

It is further alleged that in the commission and attempted commission of the crime, Bray personally used a knife; and personally inflicted great bodily injury.

Bray is expected to be arraigned April 29 in Dept. 12 of the Compton Courthouse.

On April 13, Bray allegedly boarded a bus in the city of Los Angeles and stabbed the bus driver in the chest with a knife.

The bus driver was treated at the hospital for his injuries and subsequently released.

The People are recommending Bray be held on $2,050,000 bail. If convicted as charged, he will face life in prison.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Transit Services Bureau.
