Suspicious Device Determined to be Fake
June 3, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on May 31, 2024, at 8:11 a.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Thermal Station responded to a school located on the 83000 block of Airport Boulevard, Coachella, regarding a suspicious device located on campus by a staff member. Upon arrival, deputies located the device and established a perimeter as school officials arranged for the evacuation and transportation of students to other area schools.
The Riverside Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team responded to the campus to evaluate and assess the device. It was determined the device was a hoax device and did not pose any danger to students or staff members. Deputies collected and removed the device from campus. The identity of the subject who placed the hoax device on the campus remains unknown. This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional details are available.
