Protest Arrest in Rancho Santa Fe
June 3, 2024 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that a woman was arrested in
connection with a protest in Rancho Santa Fe.
The protest happened on Friday, May 31 around 3:00 p.m. in the 1600 block of Circa del Norte as Vice President Kamala Harris arrived in the area for a political fundraiser.
About 50 protesters gathered outside the gated entrance to the Fairbanks Ranch community calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. One of the protesters jumped in front of the motorcade to stop Vice President Harris from entering the neighborhood. Deputies intervened and detained the protester blocking the motorcade. During the process, another protester intervened enabling the first protester to run away.
The second protester, Anisa Rebecca Chaudry (36), was arrested on a charge of obstructing a peace officer. Chaudry was taken to the North Coastal Sheriff's Station where she was cited and released.
All the protesters left after 45 minutes. There was no damage to property or vehicles. No one was hurt. Vice President Harris has since left San Diego County.
