Fatal Traffic Collision
June 5, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on May 31, 2024, at 8:17 p.m., deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s
Station responded to the intersection of N. Perris Boulevard and Avocado Avenue, Perris, regarding a report of a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Deputies arrived on the scene and located the pedestrian unresponsive with major injuries on the roadway. Deputies and medical personnel performed lifesaving measures. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative during the investigation.
The Perris Station Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings revealed the pedestrian stepped into the roadway and attempted to cross N. Perris Boulevard when the involved vehicle collided with the pedestrian in the southbound lanes. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision. This investigation is ongoing.
The identity of the deceased will not be released pending further investigation and notification to the next of kin. A temporary road closure of N. Perris Boulevard between Avocado Avenue and Orange Avenue was required in order to process the scene and collect evidence.
