June 17, 2024 – LOS ANGELES – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) on Friday announced the apprehension of a person who walked away CDCR Ybarrafrom the Female Community Reentry Program (FCRP) in Los Angeles on June 13, 2024.

Erica N. Ybarra, was apprehended without incident in the City of El Monte at approximately 3:45 p.m. Ybarra will be transported to California Institution for Women (CIW) where she will be returned to CDCR custody. Her case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for possible escape charges.

Ybarra is 5’4″ tall, weighs approximately 175 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray T-shirt and white shoes.

Ybarra was received from Los Angeles County on Jan. 9, 2024, sentenced to two years for second-degree robbery. She has been housed at FCRP-Los Angeles since May 15, 2024.

The FCRP allows eligible offenders committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the reentry center and provides them the programs and tools necessary to transition from custody to the community. It is a voluntary program for female offenders who have two years or less left to serve. The program links offenders to a range of community-based rehabilitative services that assist with substance use disorders, mental health care, medical care, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
