Fatal Traffic Collision 

June 19, 2024 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that on June 14, 2024, at approximately 11:06 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Westlake Boulevard and Hillcrest Drive reference an injury traffic collision.  Upon arrival, it was determined a motorcycle collided with a car in the intersection and the rider was ejected from the motorcycle.

Life saving measures were performed by deputies on scene until paramedics and firefighters arrived and administered more advanced care.  The rider was transported by ambulance to Los Robles Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.  The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to the hospital for minor injuries.  He was later released.

Next of kin notification has been made by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.  The decedent has been identified as 21-year-old Oxnard resident Jose Luis Diaz Cruz.  Anyone who witnessed or has any additional information about the collision is encouraged to contact Senior Deputy Marcos Moreno at (805) 494-8271 or marcos.moreno@ventura.org.
