Outside City Limits Officer-Involved Shooting 

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

June 19, 2024 – Ontario, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the California Department of Justice (DOJ), pursuant to Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), is investigating and will independently review an Officer-Involved Shooting by an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer that occurred in Ontario, California on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

LAPD’s Force Investigation Division investigators responded to the scene to gather information for an administrative investigation only.

The Los Angeles Police Department is fully cooperating with the Department of Justice’s investigation. The LAPD will not produce a Critical Incident Community Briefing video for this incident, as the criminal investigation is being handled entirely by the California Department of Justice.
