Casey Linder has been charged with murder for knowingly selling fentanyl and methamphetamine to a woman who died from an overdose.

June 26, 2024 – LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced on Tuesday that a Granada george gasconHills man has been charged with murder for allegedly knowingly selling fentanyl and methamphetamine to a woman who hours later was found dead of an overdose at her downtown Los Angeles apartment.

“This is a deeply tragic case illustrating the heartbreaking consequences of opioid sales in our communities,” District Attorney Gascón said. “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. Fentanyl is a powerful, deadly, and highly addictive opioid accounting for the majority of accidental overdose deaths in Los Angeles County. Selling drugs laced with fentanyl is not just a crime; it is an act of callous disregard for human life. Our office is committed to prosecuting those who distribute fentanyl and other dangerous substances.

“The fight against the opioid crisis, and specifically fentanyl, requires collective action. Our office has partnered with the LA County Department of Public Health, education leaders, community advocates and law enforcement to support evidence-based approaches to the opioid crisis. By raising awareness and educating our community, we can help prevent further tragedies and save lives.”

Casey Linder (38) is charged in case 24CJCF03707 with one count of murder, four counts of selling a controlled substance, and four counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Linder was arraigned on June 21 and pleaded not guilty. He is next in court for a preliminary hearing setting on July 3 in Department 50 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

On July 31, 2023, Linder allegedly sold methamphetamine and fentanyl to Mo Ida Solomon, 35. Hours later, Solomon was found dead by police officers in her apartment in downtown Los Angeles. The medical examiner determined that Solomon’s death was caused by the combined effects of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and alprazolam.

Linder is being held on $2,100,000 bail. If convicted as charged, Linder faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
