Fatal Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision
June 28, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 3:04 a.m., deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station responded to San Jacinto Avenue, south of Shaver Street, in the city of San Jacinto, regarding a major injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian. Deputies arrived within minutes and located a subject in the middle of the roadway, which they determined to be deceased. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian fled the scene after the collision.
The San Jacinto Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Their investigation led to the identification of the vehicle and the driver involved in the incident. Felony hit-and-run charges will be filed against the driver. The cause of the collision is still under investigation. There are no other outstanding vehicles or subjects. The identities of the involved parties, including the deceased, will not be released pending further investigation and notification to the next of kin. No additional information is available at this time.
The collision investigation required the temporary closure of San Jacinto Avenue, between Esplanade Avenue and Shaver Street in order to process the scene and collect evidence.
