SWAT Standoff in Poway
June 30, 2024 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that a man is in custody following a six-hour SWAT standoff in Poway.
It happened in the 13000 block of York Avenue on Saturday, June 29. A man called 9-1-1 around 1:30 p.m. to report his roommate attacked him with a box cutter. The roommate had abrasions during the altercation with the suspect.
Deputies with the Poway Sheriff's Station arrived on scene and contacted the suspect to de-escalate the situation. They kept talking to the man to convince him to come out of the house and surrender peacefully, but he refused.
