Suspect Arrested for Domestic Violence and Attempted Murder
July 6, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, July 04, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to the 100 block of S. Terra Cotta Road in Lake Elsinore regarding a domestic violence incident. The victim reported being violently attacked and sustained significant injuries during the assault. During the investigation, it was determined the suspect, identified as Raul Salas (pictured), a 40-year-old resident of Ontario, fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. On Friday, July 05, 2024, at 6:00 a.m., it was reported the vehicle returned to the residence. Deputies responded to the location and attempted to contact Salas, but he barricaded inside of the residence. The Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau responded to assist. Salas was subsequently taken into custody without incident. This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional details are available.
Salas was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for numerous felonies. His bail was set at $1,000,000. Anyone with additional information on this case is encouraged to contact Deputy Kelly at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station (951) 245-3300.
