July 7, 2024 - Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report on Thursday, July 4, 2024, the Lake Elsinore Station's Special Enforcement Team (SET) and Investigations Bureau took a proactive approach to combat illegal and dangerous fireworks within our communities. Every year, numerous medical emergencies, some of which are fatal, occur due to the lighting and possession of dangerous fireworks.

Throughout the operation, numerous individuals were contacted, cited, and educated about the dangers of lighting illegal fireworks in their communities. In total, 56 citations were issued for possession of fireworks and one criminal violation for possession with intent to distribute fireworks. Approximately 150 pounds of fireworks were seized and later destroyed by the Riverside Sheriff's Office Hazardous Devices Team.

The Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station encourages the communities we serve to enjoy our nation's holidays in a safe environment and leave the pyrotechnics/fireworks to the professionals.

As a reminder, "Community Policing" involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members.  Business owners and residents are encouraged to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff's Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or by calling 911 if the matter is an emergency.
