Fatal Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Dead 

July 31, 2024 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that Central Traffic Division detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a male pedestrian.

On July 16, 2024, around 3:21 a.m., a 64-year-old male pedestrian was walking northbound on Wall Street, within the marked crosswalk at 4th Street, when a Gray Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on 4th Street struck him.

The driver of the Nissan Altima fled the scene without stopping to render aid or identify themselves, as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene. They pronounced the pedestrian deceased due to injuries sustained in the collision.

There is currently no description of the driver or the specific details of the vehicle involved.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

The public is also reminded that pedestrians must obey all traffic laws and cross the street when it is safe to do so.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
