August 21, 2024 – CHINO HILLS, CA – San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus was recently notified of a Congressionally Directed Funding Request from U.S. Representative Young Kim for an allocation of $1.5 million towards the acquisition of body-worn cameras for the Sheriff’s Department. This critical funding assists the Sheriff’s Department in enhancing law enforcement capabilities.

Implementing body-worn cameras has long been a priority for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as part of our commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and public trust. Representative Young Kim’s dedication to securing this funding demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing public safety and ensuring that our deputies have the necessary tools to perform their duties effectively.

“Congresswoman Young Kim’s support for law enforcement has been instrumental in securing this critical funding for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department,” stated Sheriff Shannon Dicus

“Public safety, public trust, and providing law enforcement with the resources they need are among San Bernardino County’s highest priorities,” said Board of Supervisors Chairman and Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe. “We are grateful to Congresswoman Kim for her support and advocacy.”

"This funding represents a major milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance public safety through advanced technology. Collaborating with Congresswoman Young Kim has enabled us to secure the essential resources needed to enhance officer safety and strengthen community trust. By equipping our deputies with these state-of-the-art body cameras, we're setting a new standard for transparency and accountability in law enforcement," said Supervisor Curt Hagman

“Our law enforcement put themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities safe,” said Rep. Young Kim. “I am proud to secure vital federal resources for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to purchase body camera and taser equipment, so law enforcement can better do their jobs and ensure deputies follow accountability practices. Protecting public safety will always be a top priority for me as your representative.”

San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus sincerely thanks Representative Young Kim for her dedication to advancing public safety and looks forward to the continued collaboration in addressing the evolving needs of our communities. The funding was allocated in H. Res. 1061 – Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2014, a package of six appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2024 that funds key federal priorities.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is the law enforcement agency for the largest geographical county in the nation. Sheriff Shannon Dicus currently serves as San Bernardino County’s 36th Sheriff-Coroner. The department serves over 2.1 million residents, with eight county and 14 contract patrol stations and over 4,200 employees to ensure the quality and safety of those we serve.
