Hit-and-Run Leaves One Person Severely Injured
November 18, 2024 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the Valley Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that left a 62-year-old woman with severe injuries.
On Thursday, October 24, 2024, around 6:30 p.m., a vehicle driven by the suspect was traveling westbound on Burbank Boulevard, negotiating a right turn onto Owensmouth Avenue at a high rate of speed. The victim, a pedestrian, was crossing Burbank Boulevard on Owensmouth Avenue inside of a marked crosswalk, when the vehicle stuck the victim.
The driver of the vehicle fled northbound on Owensmouth Avenue, failing to stop and identify themselves or render aid as required by law.
The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with severe injuries.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark colored Sedan, possibly a Dodge Challenger, with all windows tinted.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
