Fatal Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Traffic Collision Arrest
January 18, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on June 12, 2024, a juvenile involved in the accident succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision. On December 30, 2024, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office filed additional charges against the driver who caused the accident, Matthew Thomas Jackson, a 37-year-old resident of Temecula, for murder, gross vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs causing injury, and reckless driving causing injury. An arrest warrant was issued for Jackson, with bail set at one million dollars.
Deputies from the Southwest Station Traffic Team and the Southwest Station Robbery and Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) were tasked with locating Jackson, who was out of custody. Jackson was determined to be at an address in the 8000 block of Venice Boulevard, Los Angeles. On January 17, 2025, Southwest Station Traffic and RBST members located Jackson at the address and took him into custody without incident. Jackson was transported and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for the outstanding warrant.
