Fatal Hit-and-Run Leaves Pedestrian Dead

January 31, 2025 – Mission Hills, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the Valley Traffic Detectives are LAPD logoinvestigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man in his 30’s.

On January 29, 2025, around 9:50 p.m., a black Chevy truck was traveling westbound on Rinaldi Street near Sepulveda Boulevard when it collided with a pedestrian who was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk. The driver of the truck continued westbound on Rinaldi Street without stopping to identify themselves or render aid as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased. He is described as a male in his 30’s. His name is being withheld pending identification and notification to next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves. Pedestrians are also reminded to use crosswalks and use caution when on the roadway.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact Valley Traffic Division Detective Ramirez at (818) 644-8025. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247). Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call the L.A.
