June 10, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that on Saturday, June 7th, and Sunday, June 8th, the Los Angeles Police Department
responded to protest activity in the downtown area that escalated into significant acts of violence, vandalism, and looting. In coordination with partner agencies, LAPD worked throughout the evening and early morning hours to restore public safety and respond to criminal activity.
On Saturday evening, LAPD arrested 29 people for Failure to Disperse.
On Sunday, the LAPD made 21 arrests. The charges range from Attempt Murder with a Molotov Cocktail, Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer, Looting and Failure to Disperse.
During the course of the demonstrations, protestors erected barricades and continued to launch projectiles at officers at Spring Street and Temple Street. The use of handheld CS gas canisters was authorized to disperse the hostile crowd. The use of the chemical agent was effective, and the barricades were dismantled. In addition, multiple deployments of less-lethal munitions were necessary to manage the crowd and prevent further harm to people or property. Over 600 rounds of less-lethal munitions were used.
Preliminary figures indicate five LAPD officers sustained minor injuries during the confrontations with protestors. In addition, five LAPD horses that were used during crowd control were targeted and sustained minor injuries.
Throughout the evening, officers encountered groups using handheld radios to coordinate movement and evade law enforcement. By approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 9, the crowd had disbursed enough for LAPD personnel to begin demobilizing.
The Los Angeles Police Department is continuing to review body-worn video and other evidence related to the incident and will work with prosecutorial partners to seek appropriate charges for those involved in criminal activity.
In addition, the LAPD Professional Standards Bureau will be investigating allegations of excessive force and other issues related to LAPD actions during the protests.
