Three Arrested in Ongoing Homicide Investigation - Davis Creek, CA
July 1, 2025 – DAVIS CREEK, CA – Modoc County Sheriff's Office officials report that on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the Modoc County Sheriff's Office received information regarding a possible homicide at a residence in Davis Creek, California. Deputies immediately began efforts to locate the alleged victim, Emmanuel Pochylski, age 41.
During the investigation, it was determined that Pochylski was last seen on the afternoon of June 11, 2025. This information led to a search warrant being served at 41759 Highway 395 in Davis Creek, where deputies located evidence indicating that Pochylski was deceased.
On Friday, June 27, 2025, the Sheriff's Office received a report from a rock hunter who discovered human remains in a shallow grave near the Plum Valley Campground. Deputies responded to the area and recovered the remains, which have since been positively identified as Emmanuel Pochylski.
As a result of this ongoing investigation, three individuals have been taken into custody and are being charged in connection with this case: Christina C. Love, age 39; Benjamin J. Kiser, age 27; and Durrell J. Chambers, age 37. Chambers and Kiser are currently being held on $1,065,000 bail, and Love is being held on $1,040,000 bail.
All three suspects face charges including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, accessory after the fact, and assault with a deadly weapon. Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
This appears to be an isolated incident, and the public is not in danger.
