Cold Case Murder Arrest
August 6, 2025 – Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on January 29, 2006, at 1:56 a.m., deputies assigned to the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the area of Pepper Court and John F. Kennedy Drive, Moreno Valley, regarding a shooting. Deputies arrived and located two deceased males inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. The males were later identified as 24-year-old Louie Granado and his brother, 34-year-old Glenn Granado, both residents of Moreno Valley.
Investigators from the Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit assumed this investigation. After several years of extensive investigation, Richard Ferris, a now 50-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, was identified as a suspect in this case. Unfortunately, there was insufficient evidence to charge Ferris at the time of the investigation, and the case went cold.
In April 2025, investigators assigned to the Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit – Cold Case Unit reviewed the case, identified additional information to follow up on, and reopened the case.
On August 1, 2025, with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit, Ferris was arrested without incident in Boyle Heights. He was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder.
This investigation is currently ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.
If anyone has information regarding this investigation, they are encouraged to call Lead Investigator Dan Brown or Master Investigator Dario Hernandez of the Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777.
