August 9, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials release critical incident video of deputy involved shooting that took place in Thousand Oaks on July 1, 2025.

Earlier information: On July 1, 2025, at approximately 8:00 P.M. deputies from the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to the 500 block of Racquet Club Lane reference a subject experiencing a mental health issue while in possession of a firearm.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a family member outside of the residence and were advised the subject was threatening family members and in possession of a firearm. During the course of the contact with the family member, the subject appeared on the balcony of the residence, discharged a round and an officer involved shooting occurred.

Deputies attempted life saving measures; however, the subject was declared deceased at the scene.
