38 Victims Linked to Fraud Scheme by Suspect Posing as BMW Executive 

August 26, 2025 – Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Sheriff’s detectives are releasing Santa Barbara Sheriff logoadditional details regarding the ongoing fraud investigation involving 64-year-old Jonathan Tudor of West Hollywood, who falsely claimed to be a senior executive with BMW.

Following the Sheriff’s Office’s initial press release on July 29, 2025, investigators have been contacted by dozens of community members reporting similar experiences. Detectives have identified 33 additional victims connected to Tudor, with cases spanning back to 2023 and involving individuals in New York, Washington, and throughout California, for a total of 38 victims.

In addition to the fraudulent luxury vehicle sales scheme, detectives have also uncovered a separate investment fraud linked to Tudor. Victims reported that he promoted vague investment opportunities, promising double in return. While Tudor occasionally paid out smaller investments, likely using funds from new victims, he failed to deliver on larger amounts, leaving investors with substantial financial losses.

Tudor remains in custody at the Santa Barbara County Main Jail.
