Two Arrested for Walnut Theft
October 28, 2025 – Yuba City, CA – Sutter County Sheriff's Office officials report that on October 26, 2025, a Sutter County
Sheriff’s Deputy made a traffic stop on Highway-99 near Obanion Road, leading to the arrest of two individuals connected to an agricultural theft incident.
During the traffic stop, deputies contacted 44-year-old Yvonne Desa and 45-year-old Dennis Martinez of Marysville. A records check revealed Martinez to have out of county warrants.
While speaking with Martinez, deputies observed a large quantity of walnuts in the back seat of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, deputies located over 200 pounds of walnuts, along with walnut rakes and pickers, commonly used in harvesting.

Both Desa and Martinez have prior theft convictions. They were transported and booked into the Sutter County Jail for theft-related charges. Martinez was also booked on his outstanding out of county warrants.
