November 8, 2025 – Ventura County Sheriff's Office officials report that three individuals believed to be associated with a Transnational Ventura County Sheriff logoTheft Group were arrested on Monday evening after using a stolen credit card to purchase merchandise from a store at the Camarillo Premium Outlets.

Detectives with the Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force were alerted to suspicious activity at the Camarillo Outlets. Detectives responded and watched as the three suspects, identified as Vargas-Magana, Falcon, and Gonzalez, acted suspiciously as they exited the Armani Exchange store.

A deputy from the Camarillo Police Station conducted a traffic stop on the suspects’ vehicle for a vehicle code violation. The driver, Vargas-Magana, presented a fictitious Chilean driver’s license and was subsequently arrested. A search of his person revealed several credit cards bearing a female’s name. Further investigation determined that one of those cards had just been used to purchase nearly $3,000 in clothing from the Armani Exchange store minutes prior to the stop.
Falcon and Gonzalez were also taken into custody for conspiracy to commit identity theft. Additional credit cards belonging to the same female victim—and to a second female victim—were in Falcon’s possession.

One of the victims reported her wallet was stolen while shopping at a grocery store in the City of Thousand Oaks, while the second victim reported her purse had been stolen from a grocery store in the City of Ventura.

A search of the suspects’ vehicle uncovered a police scanner, credit and gift card readers, tools used to defeat retail security devices, two new iPhone 17s, a pair of AirPods Pro, and approximately $3,000 in cash, all of which were seized as evidence.

Vargas-Magana was booked at the East Valley Jail, while Falcon and Gonzalez were booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility Jail on multiple felony charges. Bail was set at $50,000 for Vargas-Magana and Gonzalez. Falcon’s bail was set at $175,000 due to outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions, including:
Placer County, CA – Conspiracy
San Bernardino County, CA – Grand Theft
Forsyth County, GA – Card Theft and Identity Theft
Bay County, FL – Grand Theft and Fraudulent Use of Identification

On November 5, 2025, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple felony charges against all three suspects, including Grand Theft, Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Organized Retail Theft, Possession of a Counterfeit Document, and two counts of Identity Theft, along with one misdemeanor count of Possession of Burglary Tools and numerous special allegations.

The Task Force would like to remind the public to remain vigilant while shopping and to take precautions to safeguard their personal belongings. Shoppers are urged not to leave purses, wallets, or other valuables unattended in shopping carts, vehicles, or on store shelves, even for a moment. Opportunistic thieves often target distracted shoppers in crowded retail and grocery stores.

The Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force was formed after the Sheriff’s Office was awarded grant funding under the California Retail Theft Prevention Grant Program.  This program formalizes a coordinated effort, overseen by the Sheriff’s Office, involving all law enforcement agencies in Ventura County to prevent and combat the estimated $10 million yearly loss from organized retail theft, vehicle/vehicle parts theft, and cargo theft.

The task force comprises detectives from various agencies within Ventura County, with the primary mission of combating organized retail theft, vehicle/vehicle parts theft, and cargo theft, which impact our businesses, citizens, and communities here in Ventura County.  The task force aims to provide a safe environment for everyone while working closely with retailers, law enforcement agencies, and the public to identify, locate, and arrest the individuals involved in these types of crimes.

People with information regarding organized retail theft, vehicle/vehicle parts theft, or cargo theft are encouraged to call the Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force’s recorded line at (805) 383-8703 or by calling the Crime Stoppers Tip Line (800) 222-TIPS (8477).  You can remain anonymous when calling either of these numbers.
