Update: Fatal Collision in San Marcos
December 16, 2025 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are releasing new
information about a fatal collision in San Marcos.
Per the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office, the pedestrian who was fatally injured in the December 13 collision has been identified as 34-year-old Benjamin Lo Cicero.
The driver of the Ford F-150 involved in the incident has been identified as 54-year-old Daniel Vega.
Following the collision, Vega was arrested for driving under the influence. However, the DUI arrest is not related to the cause of the collision.
The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing. The San Marcos Sheriff's Station Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation.
