January 12, 2026 – San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that a San Diego County grand jury has indicted 21 defendants connected to dangerous street racing and reckless driving across our region. As a result of the grand jury indictment, the San Diego Police Department, including our Traffic Special Investigations Unit, alongside numerous other law enforcement agencies, carried out a coordinated operation to take suspects into custody simultaneously.
This investigation and enforcement effort was done in close partnership with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office to ensure those involved are held accountable. Twenty suspects were arrested or surrendered, sending a clear message that this behavior will not be tolerated in San Diego.
