Los Angeles Police Officer Arrested for Insurance Fraud
March 2, 2026 – Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Police Department officials report that the Special Operations Division, Major Complaint
Unit, arrested Police Officer II Christopher Carnahan on Wednesday, on two felony counts of insurance fraud under California Penal Code Section 550(b)(1). Carnahan is an 18-year veteran of the Department and resides in the City of Norwalk.
The investigation, led by Special Operations Division Major Complaint Unit, which is responsible for investigating criminal misconduct by Department employees, including workers’ compensation fraud—focused on workers’ compensation claims Carnahan submitted in 2023 and 2025.
Investigators working in partnership with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Healthcare Fraud Division, developed probable cause to believe Carnahan engaged in conduct inconsistent with the injuries stated in his filings and received benefits to which he was not entitled. Carnahan was taken into custody and subsequently booked. (Booking No. 7193206). His bail is set at $100,000 dollars.
